Zarah Cabañas, aka VJ Lady Firefly, creates original video content and VJs with her unique electrorganic style of vibrant, energetic, and beautiful visuals. She mixes visuals wherever there is a good mood, good people, and a power outlet.
Through her work as Video Production Director and Lead Editor at Blue Man Group, Zarah creates concert visuals, music videos, show content, and video installations for industrial multimedia shows. As VJ Lady Firefly, she performs in a variety of collaborations and events (details in the Short List) throughout New York City and abroad.
Her video artworks and VJ mixes are most inspired and informed by her observations in music and nature; dreams and randomness; and by the ways in which people behave. Musicality and improvisation are innate to her creations. She has dubbed her style of works as “electrorganic” – using technology as a tool to create works inspired by the principles and aesthetics of natural elements. Her videos are musical, akin to poems or songs; Vibrant in colors and open in feeling, unusual, graceful, sincere, with an underlying goofball comedy–this is the ground where all her moving images emerge.
