Bluephoria-Tech Update

Aug
28

Greetings from Arkansas, where we are 3 weeks deep into tech for Blue Man Group’s Bluephoria Tour. Zarah has been deeply involved in conceptualizing, creating, and designing this show’s video design, where the Blue Men are immersed in an alternate reality of 2.5 dimensions that weave in and out of psychedelic textures, explorations of vision, and the inner workings of “GiPhones.”  Below are stills of Zarah’s video designs on the Zygote Finale, the brand new ecstatic closing piece to premiere on this tour.

Projections in campout D also by SeeJ, Jeanne, Sam, Lukas. Documentation/time lapse of event below by SeeJ, and photos by Enki.

The MEADOW VALLEY
In the meadow valley, grooves, beats, and songs from every time and place weave amongst the tall grasses. Live acts mix and match traditional instruments with laptops and sound boxes. Lazy, whimsical afternoons in the meadow bloom with sideshows, cabaret acts, open mics. Nearby, revelers gather at the kommunity kook shack, sharing bounties gathered everywhere from the garden to the bodega. If you have an idea for the meadow and/or meadow stage, let us know!

From ambient to noise with stops at all points in between, alien soundtracks, techno, and spacehaus to broken beat, drum and bass, dub and experimental eclectica. Collaborative and solo sets, movements of sound and light from many of NYC’s best artists, musicians and DJs (+ special guests from abroad) evolve endlessly in the freeDome.
